SURATÓMICA FESTIVAL

The Suratómica Festival of Creation - Art & Science is a space for meeting, creation and dissemination for local and international creatives, artists and scientists. With scientific talks, art masterclasses, workshops and spaces for dialogue, the festival seeks to spread scientific and artistic thinking in our region.

The union of arts and science is currently one of the bases for the creation of new knowledge around alternative, more open and equitable social structures. The Suratómica Festival is above all a meeting point for dialogue from different areas of knowledge, which under the ideas of collaboration, openness of knowledge and diversity, come together to think about new forms of organization, creation and alternatives to the idea of development.

AT THE EDGE OF CHAOS

2023 - II EDITION

[SCHEDULED FOR NOVEMBER]

On the edge of chaos means, literally, far, far away from equilibrium. This, in contrast to a world focused on the search for equilibrium of all kinds (accounting, financial, commercial, technological and others). It is on the edge of chaos that the most exciting things happen, but also the most delicate and sensitive. There is a science that deals with this space, this threshold. Of all the phenomena far from equilibrium, the most important from many points of view is life, living systems. Life-as-we-know-it, and life-as-it-could-be-possible, a broad threshold that covers from extremophiles and protozoa to human beings and artificial life and intelligence.

A|CERCA DEL ORIGEN

2020 - I EDITION

In the inquiries of quantum physics coexist the great questions of the arts and science. A|CERCA DEL ORIGEN is both the proximity in space-time to the Big Bang and the inquiry into the emergence of the universe. The origin as a singularity, where the laws of physics as we know them do not manifest themselves, where time does not exist and therefore there is no "before". The origin as the absence of boundaries - why does something exist instead of nothing (Hawking & Mlodinov, 2010, p.16)?

The possibility of going back in time to a few milliseconds after the Big Bang, the discovery of the Higgs boson, the creation of monumental experiments to collide particles and the creation of antimatter in a laboratory have in recent times accelerated the production of hundreds of theories, hypotheses and new understandings of matter and the universe. Where does artistic thinking link with scientific thinking to explore the origin of everything?
