SURATÓMICA RESIDENCE
In the Residency program, participating artists connect with a renowned scientific research center that will provide them with advice and open its space, experiments and knowledge for the development of their Creative Projects.
This program was created at the beginning of 2019 in collaboration between Cuántico, art@CMS, MutanteLab and the agency Creata, which supported the initial design phase of the program.

RESIDENCE A|CERCA DEL ORIGEN
SEPTEMBER 18 TO OCTOBER 2, 2019
CERN LABORATORIES
Geneva, Switzerland
The Suratómica Residence at CERN Labs began with a trip from Bogotá, Medellín, Lyon and Vienna to Geneva for eight creatives from different disciplines, including visual arts, new media arts, dance, design, programming and art education. Invited by the art@CMS program, this group lived, explored and experienced campus life for two weeks to dialogue, collaborate and create bonds with scientists, researchers, engineers and creatives from other fields who live and work in these facilities. Each guest or collective carried out a Creation Project during this time, which was nourished by the collaborations and encounters with the people at CERN. During two weeks the group got to know, among others, the CMS, ATLAS, ALICE, LHCb and the Antimatter Factory experiments; attended talks, seminars and had conversations with John Ellis, George Mikenberg, Rosa Menkman, Ulrike Kuchner, Monica LoCascio, among others, and created links with Latin American scientists working in Switzerland such as the Colombians Johny Jaramillo, Omar Zapata and Carlos Sandoval. These two weeks of exchange allowed Suratómica to begin its transformation into a global network of people interested in the infinite possibilities of creating new knowledge through the union and collaboration between the sciences and the arts.
The residence program was organized by Cuántico, art@CMS and Mutante. The agency Creata collaborated in the initial design phase of the program. The artists' participation in the residency was partially funded by the ATLAS experiments, with the support of Claire Adam Bourdarios and the CMS experiment, the latter through the High Energy Physics Research Group of the Universidad de los Andes, with the support of Carlos Ávila. In addition to this support, the artists individually managed support from various organizations, private and public, which made their trip and stay at the laboratory possible.
