A|CERCA DEL ORIGEN
CYCLE 2019-2020
In the inquiries of quantum physics, the great questions of the arts and science coexist. A|CERCA DEL ORIGEN is both the proximity in space-time to the Big Bang and the inquiry into the emergence of the universe. The origin as a singularity, where the laws of physics as we know them do not manifest themselves, where time does not exist and therefore there is no "before". The origin as the absence of boundaries - why does something exist instead of nothing (Hawking & Mlodinov, 2010, p.16)?
The possibility of going back in time to a few milliseconds after the Big Bang, the discovery of the Higgs boson, the creation of monumental experiments to collide particles and the creation of antimatter in a laboratory have in recent times accelerated the production of hundreds of theories, hypotheses and new understandings of matter and the universe. Where does artistic thinking link with scientific thinking to explore the origin of everything?
Suratómica opens a space for creation and collaboration between these disciplines, giving space and strengthening reflections on contemporary science, development and access to knowledge. In this first cycle organized in collaboration with art@CMS, the arts program of the CMS experiment of the Large Hadron Collider at CERN European Organization for Nuclear Research, we explore the possibilities of working with physics through artistic tools and approaches from Latin America.
In a fundamentally collaborative process, the artists explore the plastic possibilities of the most recent theories of physics, propose new ways of visualizing scientific readings of the world, approach biophysics to engage in conversations with neuroscience and question the implications of scientific narratives in our daily lives. Artistic experiences enhanced by new technological media that inquire about the origin, its nature and its possible non-existence.
BOOK OF MEMORIES OF THE CYCLE

A|CERCA DEL ORIGEN - [NON-EXISTANT FRONTIERS]
A|CERCA DEL ORIGEN is the experience of approaching quantum physics and astrophysics, of forming ourselves as a heterogeneous network of organizations, groups and creatives, and of creating the first connections that activated the movement, exchange and collaboration that we see in it today. As a meeting of some of those nodes and co-organizers of the diverse spaces of the Network, the editors of this book wanted to compile and put in these pages a part of those memories of what has been thought in it and how we have found ourselves in these nearly three years, since the Suratómica space was proposed. This book gathers creative and academic texts, records of meeting spaces, works and many ideas of the creatives connected during its first cycle, which began with the launching of a residency program in the CERN laboratories and closed with the first Festival. In its pages you will also find the context of Inexistent Frontiers, which emerged to strengthen our connections during the Covid-19 pandemic, as we collectively thought about how understanding the "living | non-living" transforms our ways of knowing and our way of existing as a Network.
This book has been made in a free, open, collective and collaborative way. Partial or total copying of its texts in any format is allowed and encouraged, as long as it is non-profit or commercial, the content is maintained and the authorship is mentioned. Quiet Cacophony
Natalia Rivera

Observers can see how the membranes are vibrating but can not listen. To allow some sounds to be heard, meaning some possibilities to become real, the installation will turn on and off vacuum while randomly reproducing a unique frequency.
